24/7 Prayer

Prayer is one of the most important aspects of our spiritual retreat. If the Bible teaching is the "lecture," the prayer time is the "lab" where we work through what we've been learning in communication with God.

Morning Meditation

Rev. Tom Albin introduces the day's reading from the Gospel of John. The passage is read several times and Tom welcomes participants to meditate deeply on the words of the Scripture.

John 1:1-5

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ²He was with God in the beginning. ³Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. ⁴In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. ⁵The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcomeit.

Is there a particular word, phrase, or mental image that stands out to you from the reading?
How does the passage resonate with you? Do you have a certain feeling or emotional connection?
Do you feel a call to action? How will you respond to the text?

For this morning's prayer, you're encouraged to pray about something in your own life that may need illumination. You could start:

"You are the beginning and ending of all things, the author and sustainer of all life, and the light in this dark world. This morning I ask that you illuminate and renew my life in the following areas..."

Evening Message

Rev. Tom Albin walks participants back to the beginning using Genesis 1 and John 1 for his first message. Using the theme of "Refresh," Tom explores what it means to reorient oneself physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually by returning to God, the source of all things, and remembering who we are.
